About the event

This program will concentrate on Region 5 data related to unhealthy birth outcomes, including preterm birth rates, and maternal mortality rates while highlighting the importance of preconception and inter-conception health interventions. This live webinar will focus on understanding the relationship of oral health to overall health of women during reproductive years and how implementing a preventive approach for optimal oral health during the reproductive years can have direct influence on a women’s systemic health, oral health, pregnancy outcomes and the oral health of her children.This program is designed to be interactive and your participation via video and audio is highly encouraged.

Objectives Review of preconception health data in Region 5. Review preventable factors that lead to poor birth outcomes and the benefit of reproductive life planning. Discuss Action Planning, Process Review, and Steps Development Explain the importance of optimal oral health for women during reproductive years. Identify the effects of poor oral health on women’s systemic health and pregnancy outcomes. Describe the maternal-child oral health relationship. Identify measures prenatal care providers can utilize to guide women towards optimal oral health during reproductive years. Describe the Oral Health Care During Pregnancy: NC Collaborative Practice Framework as a practice guidance tool for prenatal care providers.
