Director, Maternal Infant Health
Michaela Penix is the March of Dimes Director of Maternal Infant Health for North Carolina. She has her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and Masters in Public Health with a concentration in Health Behavior and Program Evaluation, along with graduate certificates in Women’s Studies and Ethnic and Rural Health Disparities. She has worked to improve the health of communities for nearly 20 years, with a focus on women’s and children’s health and safety. Michaela is passionate about health equity, social justice, and overall efforts to uplift the community. In her spare time, Michaela enjoys traveling, volunteering, and spending time with her family, friends, and sweet puppy, Sarabi (Suh-Rah-Bee).
